The 45th Annual Hawai'i Prayer Breakfast

In the spirit of the National Prayer Breakfast, held annually in Washington, DC, the purpose of the Hawaii Prayer Breakfast is to bring people of faith together to seek God in a time of prayer and fellowship. With respect for differing beliefs and backgrounds, the Hawaii Prayer Breakfast unites people in their belief of God. Together, we can be assured that the Almighty oversees and intersects us providentially in our everyday affairs.  This year our keynote speaker is “Alex” Kendrick, from Smyrna, Georgia began as an ordained pastor ministering to college students who, eventually, took his ministry from the pulpit to the big screen, becoming a faith-based American film writer, producer, actor, and director, ranking A+ in Cinema. Alex is best known for directing and starring in notable faith-based films, i.e., Facing The Giants, War Room, Overcomer, Courageous, and Fireproof. Alex Kendrick has dedicated his life to serving Jesus Christ and making His truth and love known among the nations through movies, books, speaking, and prayer. Alex and his brothers, Stephen and Shannon, operate Kendrick Brothers Productions. He and hisfamily are active members at Sherwood Church in Albany, Georgia

Our Keynote speaker is Steve Green became president of Hobby Lobby in 2004, and has helped grow their family business to more than 900 stores in 47 states, employing over 45,000 people companywide, with $6.1 billion in annual sales in 2020. Hobby Lobby began operation August 3, 1972, with six hundred square feet of retail space located in north Oklahoma City by Steve’s father, David. Steve took on a variety of roles over the years as the business grew into the large corporation it is today. In Green’s role as co-founder and chairman of the board of Museum of the Bible, he helped create the 430,000-square-foot museum dedicated to a scholarly and engaging presentation of the Bible's impact, history, and narrative. It opened in November 2017 in Washington, DC, three blocks from the US Capitol. Steve has added the titles of speaker and author to his resume, penning Faith in America (2011) and The Bible in America (2013), which explore the history and impact of the Bible in today’s world, and, most recently, This Beautiful Book (2020), which shows how the books and stories of the Bible come together to tell one overarching story. Jackie Green is a full-time homemaker who relishes her roles of wife, mother to six children, mother-in-law, and “Gigi” to seven grandchildren. Married to her high-school sweetheart, Steve, for 36 years, Jackie actively supports him in his high-profile role as president of Hobby Lobby and chairman of the board of Museum of the Bible. She also works closely with the Museum’s Development team and founded the Women of Legacy program. An adoptive mom herself, Jackie has served on the board of a local crisis pregnancy center as well as that of the private school their children attend. She has taken on the role of co-founder of Museum of the Bible, author, and speaker since 2010, and together, Steve and Jackie authored This Dangerous Book (2017). Jackie authored Only One Life (2018) with their daughter Lauren McAfee, with a Bible study entitled, Legacy (2019).

The 42nd Annual Hawaii Prayer Breakfast, held May 7, 2021 at the Hawaii Convention Center. Approximately 1200 in attendance, the largest post pandemic indoor crowd size to date. Had to use many COVID safety protocols and served as a model for other event organizers.

Historically the leadership of our Nation has turned to Almighty God for strength and guidance. In this spirit, the United States Senate and the House of Representatives Breakfast Groups, which meet to deepen friendships, to pray and counsel together, inaugurated the National Prayer Breakfast to specifically seek the Lord’s guidance and strength as well as to reaffirm our faith and to renew the dedication of our Nation and ourselves to God and His purposes.
